Recently, Osto&logistiikka magazine visited HUB’s Vantaa logistics center and took a closer look at our operations. During the visit, our Business Area Director Heikki Mantsinen and Development Director Anssi Tura discussed the logistics center’s operations and how the logistics company can respond to rapid response times.
The report explains how HUB logistics handles the highest urgency orders. When our customer needs a spare device for their critical operation, we can deliver the spare devices from Vantaa to Kuopio within a few hours, allowing the technician to complete their work the same day.
Speed and reliability of service are also crucial in healthcare logistics. “Customer requirements set the parameters for service development,” says HUB logistics Development Director Anssi Tura. “If the need is for goods to leave within 20 minutes of ordering, we create such a service.”
During the visit, our experts emphasized that HUB logistics’ customer-specific customization is key to exceptional delivery speed and high delivery reliability in service logistics. Whether it’s an industrial plant, hospital, or telecom operator, the service process is adapted to the customer’s needs. When a critical server fails in a hospital in the middle of the night, the on-duty guard brings the spare device to a taxi waiting at the warehouse door.
“Simplifying tasks and unifying information systems were key lessons from the corona period. When staff needs to be quickly increased, it is essential that different sites have the same information systems so that time is not wasted learning the systems,” describes Heikki Mantsinen.
Avoiding exceptional situations and promoting predictability
The comprehensive report states that HUB logistics also prepares for unforeseen situations with contingency plans and drills. “The purpose of logistics is to ensure that exceptional situations do not occur. If an urgent situation arises, something has gone wrong,” Tura says.
The visit also discussed the tips provided by weather forecasts for service needs. Resource forecasting and utilizing weather forecasts are part of predicting service needs in the spare device service HUB offers its customers. External factors also regularly affect service needs. “The first thunderstorms of summer and ice build-ups in winter cause service peaks,” Tura explains. “With weather forecasts, we can organize work so that there is capacity to handle things according to agreed schedules during peak times.”
Predictability is key to meeting customer needs, as emphasized in the report. “The customer should have an interest in avoiding exceptional situations and informing about them early,” Tura states. He sees predictability as an important part of service pricing and logistics smoothness.
The visit by Osto&Logistiikka magazine to the Vantaa logistics center highlighted how HUB logistics experts and modern technology ensure fast and reliable deliveries that can resolve critical situations in various industries.
