HUB logistics has joined the City of Lahti’s climate partnership network, which encourages companies and organizations to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and combat climate change. City of Lahti is committed to achieving carbon neutrality and becoming a pioneer in circular economy. The city supports and motivates local businesses to advance climate action.

The City of Lahti invites companies and organizations to join this voluntary partnership network, where participants create their own plans to promote climate efforts. The partnership offers a low-threshold opportunity to enhance environmental responsibility and network with other actors. Partners establish their goals and actions to reduce their climate impacts.

According to Laura Matkala, Environmental Coordinator for the City of Lahti, the partnership is suitable for a wide range of organizations, regardless of their industry. It is especially beneficial for small and medium-sized enterprises, offering support and peer collaboration, as developing environmental responsibility can require resources and expertise that are not always readily available.

– The network currently includes 35 organizations from various sectors. It has been enthusiastically received, and many companies view it as an excellent opportunity for concrete climate action and the development of their operations, Matkala states.

The Mayor of Lahti welcomed the new participants to the climate partnership

On December 4, 2024, HUB logistics signed the climate partnership agreement at Lahti City Hall. Other new partners included Ramboll Finland Oy’s Lahti office, the Lahti office of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Lahti Ringette, and Lahti Folk Collage. During the signing ceremony, Lahti’s Mayor, Niko Kyynäräinen, welcomed the partners and signed the agreements with the new participants.

According to Jani Kronlöf, HUB logistics’ Unit Manager, the goals of the climate partnership and collaboration are not only to improve their own operations but also to advance regional climate efforts in cooperation with other stakeholders.

– In our corporate-level sustainability program, we have set clear goals for environmental initiatives, aiming to promote more sustainable solutions in logistics. Joining a partnership like this at the local level feels very natural. The City of Lahti is doing exemplary climate work. It’s an honor to join the climate partnership network and collaborate with the City of Lahti and other partners, summarizes Jani Kronlöf.

Four other new climate partners participated in the same signing event as HUB logistics.
