Hämeenlinna unit: Training Contract Workplace of the Year 2023

HUB logistics Vuoden koulutussopimustyöpaikka 2023

HUB logistics’ Hämeenlinna unit has taken responsibility for training future workers by offering internships to students in the logistics field for several years. We had the honor of receiving the “Training Contract Workplace of the Year 2023” diploma awarded by Ammattiopisto Tavastia, presented by Senior Lecturer Janne Hakala to the unit manager Jere Kortemaa.

This diploma is granted to a workplace that specifically invests in student-centeredness and guidance. Based on the proposal from Ammattiopisto Tavastia’s staff, HUB and Jere Kortemaa have been recognized for their exceptional contribution to the field of internal logistics.

Ammattiopisto Tavastia justifies the award by highlighting how HUB logistics and Jere Kortemaa, as the unit manager, have significantly advanced internship opportunities in the field of internal logistics. HUB is praised for its ability to simultaneously take on multiple interns, which the vocational school considers rare and valuable in the field. Particularly, flexibility and adaptability in tasks have enabled the development of students’ professional skills in line with the requirements of their qualifications.

Based on feedback collected from students, internships with HUB and Jere have been experienced as highly pleasant. Additionally, HUB has provided job opportunities for students both during their studies and after completion. According to Janne Hakala, the collaboration with HUB has been fruitful. HUB has actively participated in partnership activities organized by the vocational school and hosted teaching staff on workplace visits. Hakala notes that the development suggestions from HUB have been valuable and demonstrate the company’s commitment to advancing the industry.

Internships and summer jobs provide valuable pathway to the working life

Commitment to the younger workforce is evident at HUB’s Hämeenlinna unit in how many interns have secured positions in the workforce either through summer jobs or internships. Jere Kortemaa is delighted with the recognition received, emphasizing that Hämeenlinna has long provided internship positions and collaborated with educational institutions. He sees internships as a key factor for young people to familiarize themselves with workplace rules and gain valuable insights into job opportunities in the field.

– Offering internship positions is important for young people to get acquainted with the working world. They learn about work itself and broaden their perspective on job opportunities in the industry. For many young people, the internship is their first real exposure to the working world, so our role in this chain is meaningful. It’s great that both students and school staff appreciate our long-term efforts. We will continue our work, providing opportunities for introduction to the working world and skill development, summarizes Jere Kortemaa.
