HUB’ sustainability program looks at operations from many angles

HUB logistics sustainability

HUB logistics’ sustainability program brings together the themes of sustainability relevant to the company and guides employees to act responsibly. The priorities of sustainability are environmental responsibility, financial responsibility and good governance, as well as social responsibility. In terms of responsibility, success is monitored from many angles, and various metrics and sustainability reports guide us to develop the operation even better.

The preparation and implementation of the sustainability program is part of HUB logistics’ long-term work for more sustainable and greener logistics. Sustainability is part of HUB’s strategy, and the completed program guides employees at all levels of the organization to make sustainable choices and act responsibly every day. The program gathers together essential themes, under which goals and measures have been drawn up, with the help of which it is possible to monitor and evaluate the activities.

The themes promoted at HUB through the responsibility program are meaningful work, a safe work environment, profitable growth and towards greener logistics.

As in many companies, the monitoring of sustainability has initially focused on the environment. Although there have been other perspectives and things to follow, environmental issues still play a very large role.

An important part of environmental responsibility is monitoring emissions. For this purpose, a CO2 counter has been introduced, which can be used to produce reliable figures for customers and other stakeholders. A transaction-based CO2 counter is also used, which can be used to provide customers with more detailed data on emissions separately from the time of product reception, storage or even shipping. Development targets can also be identified more easily with a more precise measurement method.

Financial responsibility is one of the three cornerstones of sustainability. It means good governance, which takes into account the expectations of customers, the owner and other stakeholders. The culture of sustainability consists of the fact that the company is profitable as a whole and is able to both offer and retain jobs.

Social responsibility includes personnel development and competence development. HUB trains diligently, for example with staff card training and front-person training. Our goal is to create a workplace where every employee is proud of the work they do, and where it is safe to come every day of the year.

Occupational safety naturally plays an important role in the logistics industry. A safe and healthy work environment and well-being at work are the starting points for good productivity and quality of operations. Based on employee satisfaction, HUB has succeeded well in occupational safety, and the long-term results in terms of accident frequency also support the result.

Based on the EU directive and the accounting law, making a sustainability report is mandatory for companies that employ more than 500 people and are significant in terms of public interest, such as listed companies, banks and insurance companies. At HUB, sustainability reports have been made for years, and more and more effort is constantly being put into them.
