Working at HUB: Logistics Specialist Janne Hyvärinen

Logistiikka-asiantuntija Janne Hyvärinen | Logistics Specialist Janne Hyvärinen

Logistics Specialist Janne Hyvärinen started working at HUB logistics in Lahti after the turn of the year. He brings a fresh and innovative perspective to logistics, along with strong expertise in quality matters and project work. Janne is enthusiastic about change and believes that even small steps can achieve significant results.

Janne, who graduated from LUT University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, had his first encounter with logistics in middle school. His introduction to the working world included a period of getting to know the warehouse, shelving spare parts. Later on, his career led him more towards quality issues and project work.

Janne sees the role of a logistics specialist in the internal logistics environment as crucial to ensuring the efficient operation of the company. His task is to optimize warehouse management, production control, order processing, and other internal processes to ensure the smooth flow and cost-effectiveness of goods.

–  Logistics is often overlooked in many companies. Internal logistics covers warehouse management, production control, order processing, and the management of other internal processes. The task of a logistics specialist is to optimize these processes and ensure that the flow of goods is smooth and cost-effective. By investing in internal logistics, it is possible to bring savings to the customer. With our expertise, we can influence and bring quality and efficiency to the customer’s processes, explains Janne.

Data-driven decisions along with creativity

Janne is accustomed to making decisions based on data but also emphasizes the necessity of seeking direction from bold and creative ideas.

– In this job, working with Excel is typical, and honestly, I can say that numbers are interesting. It’s good to make plans with the help of data and utilize existing data in decision-making. You also have to remember that experience should be listened to while also looking towards the future with visions. Logistics is developing rapidly right now. Something that may seem crazy today could be commonplace in three years, says Janne.

Quality and customer-centric operation

Janne has a strong background in working with quality, and this perspective provides valuable information for the continuous development of internal logistics.

– In previous roles, I’ve had the opportunity to see the internal logistics of different companies and develop operations from a quality perspective. It has been great to notice that quality is highly valued at HUB. When your own values align with those of the company, it’s extremely easy to move things forward, says Janne.

Janne is excited about the opportunity to work with a major healthcare logistics customer. He emphasizes active and open communication in customer relations.

– An important part is to work closely with the customer. Active and open communication enables a lot when collaborating with customers. In Lahti, customer collaboration has been handled excellently, and it’s easy to get involved in this customer relationship, says Janne.

Continuous development with a relaxed approach

The first weeks at HUB have been exciting and rewarding for Janne. Digesting new information and getting to know HUB’s ways of working have been priorities for him. He has received a warm welcome and looks forward to participating in various projects and tasks.

–  My head is spinning a bit from information overload and the still very identical-looking corridors of the hospital. I was received very well, and I’m eagerly looking forward to participating in many projects and various tasks, Janne says.

There is a good atmosphere at the Lahti office, and Janne is convinced that teamwork and continuous development are part of HUB’s DNA. He also emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and encourages small changes.

– Even small things can make a big difference. And one must not forget that something can improve, for example, comfort or environmental aspects. You have to keep making progress. Small improvements can bring about significant changes. Some people are afraid of the word ‘change.’ However, it doesn’t always have to be thought of so extensively; one must realize that changes can also be small individual things that can make things better, Janne concludes.

He looks forward to what the future holds and believes that his role will grow in both customer and project contexts.

– There will surely be more tasks in the future as I get into customer relations and operating models. At this stage, half is still about familiarization and half is about project work. There will certainly be plenty of work, and the wheels will start turning significantly, envisions Janne.
